What You Should Do

 ·         Keep your cash, credit cards, airline tickets, and other valuables in a safe place: Most 4-star hotels have in-room safes; if not, ask the reception to keep your valuables in their safe.

·         Take a hotel business card from the reception desk before leaving the hotel. This will make it easier for you to return to the hotel by taxi or cyclo.

·         Carry a roll of toilet paper in your daypack when going on long excursions from your main hotel. You never know when you might need it!

·         Dress appropriately, not only for the weather but also to avoid offending local people. Vietnamese have conservative dress codes, and these rules are more relaxed only in larger cities. Avoid wearing revealing clothing.

·         If invited into a Vietnamese home, always remove your shoes at the front door before entering.

· Ask for permission when taking a photo of someone. If they do not want you to, respect their wishes.
