Vang Vieng town now is the hot spot for tourism in Laos. The province is about 150km to the North of Vientiane along Highway No 13. Vang Vieng is located on Nam Song River or also called Xong River and owns many beautiful natural landscapes. The surrounding covers the picturesque by lime stones and farmlands, caves. It is very easy for you to discover the town on foot for less streets, only market and a bus station and a few temples. Bicycles, motorbikes are always available for your renting to discover outside of the town.

Vang Vieng is the land which you can reach from other cities and regions in Laos of Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Xieng Khuang, Udon Thani and Nong Khai (of Thailand)

The caves and cliffs are attractions to get your exploration with karst landscapes, rock climbing activities that are suitable for adventure trip. Especially it is suitable for all people from beginners to professionals.

Vang Vieng has become a backpacker town with many streets of guesthouses, bars, restaurants, internet cafes, etc. once coming here you can take part in attractions with many activities of inner tubing, kayaking on Nam Song River.  Vang Vieng is as the stopover destination when you travel from Vientiane to Luang Prabang. At night with the colorful of bars, restaurants which is as normal life in small cottage stalls.           

It seems that you will have an adventurous trip for activities in Vang Vieng. However, to those who cannot join adventure activities, there are many other activities to explore this region. Biking or motorbiking around the tranquil town, along small wooden bridges, visit hidden villages.

Natural caves in Vang Vieng offer natural pools for swimming and exploring by foot, bicycle or motorbike. Swimming on River is the favorite activities for many tourists. However, it is recommended not to swimming in rainy season around June to September because the water is muddy and the higher level of water.

There is no airport directly to Vang Vieng. To reach Vang Vieng you can choose a direct bus from Vang Vieng or Udon Thani. There is one bus daily from Udon Thani at 7.00 am. It stops at Nong Khai bus station to welcome passengers and then going on journey to Vang Vieng.

There are many VIP, express buses and minivan daily from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng. However, most VIP and express buses (normal air-conditioned bus)  are Luang Prabang – Vientiane buses. The VIP bus departs at 9.30 am and 12.30 am for the route Luang Prabang – Vang Vieng.
